Save Africa's Children Awarded $25,000 Grant from The MAC AIDS Fund/MAC Global Foundation

Save Africa's Children (SAC), founded by Bishop Charles E. Blake, has directly assisted over 400 orphan care programs in 21 African nations, reaching over 100,000 African children. SAC partners with a range of entities mitigating the AIDS orphans crisis on the ground in Africa, including schools, day care centers, medical clinics, feeding programs and children's homes. SAC is now one of the largest African American initiatives providing direct support to orphans in Africa.

Bishop Blake Receives Courageous Leadership Award

Bishop Charles E. Blake was presented the Courageous Leadership Award, a joint project of the Willow Creek Association and World Vision. The award was bestowed during the 2007 Leadership Summit — an annual training event for church leaders — at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Ill.

Crisis in Kenya
Since January, more than 1,000 Kenyans were killed and over 500,000 displaced in post election violence. Save Africa's Children responded quickly, distributing blankets, mattresses and food for children and families living in makeshift camps. We are resettling families and sending children back to school. There are still hundreds of thousands with no home to return to who require food, water and medical care. Thousands of children have been separated from their families.

Mpudulle Day Care Center
The Mpudulle Day Care Center in Johannesburg, South Africa provides early childhood education to the most vulnerable children in their community. They are located in one of the most dangerous environments for young children, a former hostel for mine workers. They desperately need to move to a new location. Save Africa's Children will relocate this center to a safer community so that Mpudulle can expand its programs.
